See: Bedford Police And Good Samaritan Save Deer Caught In Fence

The animal, once hanging on for deer life, hoofed it without so much as a thank you, but no need to fawn — it's how cops earn a buck.

BEDFORD, NY — A Bedford police officer and passerby managed to rescue a deer that had gotten tangled up in an unpleasant and potentially dangerous situation.

The Bedford Police Department described how two good souls lent Mother Nature a helping hand in a social media post on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, on Sunday, Officer John Moylan of the Emergency Service Unit, responded to a call about an animal in distress on Sarles Road.

The caller led Moylan towards a deer that was stuck in a steel gate.

Using some of the specialized equipment typically carried on Emergency Service Unit vehicles, Officer Moylan and the caller worked together to free the deer from the perilous situation.

Bedford PD noted the animal "wasted 'doe' time running away," (but perhaps they should be forgiven for the irresistible pun, because, you know, they saved a deer and all).
