Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Hudson Valley Monday

Conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan and Westchester counties.

A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area, according to the NWS.

By definition, a severe thunderstorm is one that produces 1-inch diameter or larger hail and/or winds that equal or exceed 58 miles per hour.
