In its first Fairchester Athletic League game of the season, Harvey hosted Hamden Hall School and posted an 8- 2 win in a penalty-filled contest. Hamden collected 13 penalties while the Cavaliers had 17 of their own, but Harvey capitalized on the power play en route to it third victory in a row after going 1-5 to start the season.
Senior Keith Lambert, who continued his hot play of late, opened the scoring just 31 seconds into the game as he scored off a breakaway to give the Cavs the lead. Hamden Hall tied the score at 1-1 midway through the period, but Harvey scored three goals before the end of the period. Junior Theo Rattner of Waccabuc added two goals and Lambert picked up his second.

After a Hamden power play goal cut Harvey’s lead to 4-2, the Cavaliers scored twice more to take a commanding 6-2 lead into the final period. Junior Tyler Levy of Chappaqua hammered home a shot on the back post on a power play and then Lambert scored the hat trick on a short-handed goal.
Senior captain Connor Wilson added his first goal to start of the third period, again on the power play. Lambert added his fourth goal later in the period.
Once again goaltender Mark Siegel was excellent in net, stopping 35 of 37 shots he faced.
The Cavaliers are now 4-5 as they go to break.
Harvey Cagers Stop Chase
Harvey improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league Wednesday after defeating Chase Collegiate 60-50 in Waterbury, Connecticut.
The first quarter belonged to the Cavaliers as they took a 27-16 lead into halftime that they maintained until the final buzzer. In a fast tempo game, Harvey executed on both sides of the ball. Although out-rebounded, Harvey did a good job of containing Chase’s offense and did not give the Highlanders many open looks. Harvey played aggressive defense and was able to force 22 turnovers.
Coach Dom Narcisco was very pleased with his team’s performance. “We are getting contributions from everyone. When everyone contributes, it brings the team together and the positive play becomes contagious.”
Harvey senior Sasha Kantor was again the team’s high scorer with 15. Senior guard Ricky Hicks chipped in with 13 of his own. For Chase, Blake Hardy and Ethan Vance both played excellent games, scoring 18 points apiece.
Harvey will square off against Briarcliff High School Friday in the opener of the Tappan Zee Holiday Tournament. The second game is a matchup of Division AA team Clarkstown North and Tappan Zee, a Division A powerhouse.
Harvey Girls End Win Streak
Harvey’s girls varsity basketball team had won its first four games of the season before losing at home Wednesday to Chase Collegiate 52-25.
The visitors built a 28-17 halftime lead and held Harvey to only eight points in the second half.
Junior Julia Frisch led the Lady Cavaliers with seven points and sophomore Hannah Paul chipped in with six as Harvey struggled on offense throughout the game.
The Lady Cavs do not play again until Jan. 7 when they travel to The Master’s School in West Simsbury, Conn.
