State Police: Bedford Hills Guard Arrested for Sex with Inmate

A 30-year-old male prison guard at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility was arrested on a charge of third degree rape for having consensual sex with a female inmate, according to state police.

Jose Guzman was arrested Thursday, in what is the latest case of sexual contact at the prison between a guard and an inmate.

The Guzman case occurred over a six-month period between 2012 and 2013, and the arrest was made following a joint investigation between the state police and New York State Department of Corrections.

On 12/11/14 the New York State Police at Somers arrested Jose Guzman, age 30, of Wappinger Falls, NY, on the charge of Rape 3rd Degree as a result of a joint investigation conducted by the State Police and the NYS Dept of Corrections (Office of Special Investigations).

Guzman, while employed as a Corrections Officer at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, did engage in consensual sex with an inmate on multiple occasions over a six month time frame in 2012 / 2013. Bedford Hills Correctional Facility is a maximum security prison which houses female inmates. Guzman voluntarily surrendered to the State Police in Somers at which time he was processed and then arraigned before the town of Bedford Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear before said court in March of 2015.
