Strong Winds, Snow Showers To Affect Hudson Valley Wednesday

Wind gusts up to 50 mph could be expected in the region.

Strong winds will be a problem throughout the Hudson Valley Wednesday.

A wind advisory was issued for Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester counties by the National Weather Service.

It is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Winds will be from the northwest from 15 to 25 mph. Gusts will be up to 50 mph.

The highest winds will occur during the afternoon.

There could be downed limbs, trees and power lines, the NWS said.

Scattered power outages could result.

Additionally, Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties were issued a Special Weather Statement.

Snow showers that could impact the morning commute will overspread portions of the mid-Hudson Valley through 7 a.m. and should persist through 8 a.m.

Total accumulations could range from a coating to an inch, but may occur very quickly, over a period of less than one hour.

These snow showers could lead to occasional reductions in visibility to under one mile, along with slippery and snow-covered roads.
