Student-Led Forum On Gun Control To Focus On Senate District 37

Students will moderate the discussion between the two candidates and ask the questions.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Westchester Student Coalition Against Gun Violence is holding a public forum for the two candidates running for the state Senate District 37 vacant seat. The forum will provide an opportunity for students to ask questions in a town hall format of the candidates: Republican Julie Killianand Democrat Shelley Mayer.

The event will take place from 7 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. at Trinity St. Paul’s Church, 311 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle.

The topic of the public forum will be gun control and gun violence.

Students will moderate the discussion and all candidate questions will be coming from the students.

The student-led forum is a follow-up to the March 14 student walk-out/walk-in and the March 24 “March for Our Lives Westchester” rally.

The special election to fill the Senate seat vacated when George Latimer became county executive will be held Tuesday, April 24.

The 37th District includes the cities of Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle, as well as Bedford, Harrison, Mamaroneck, North Castle and Rye.
