Super Storm Sandy

4th Anniversary of Super Storm Sandy

Today marks the 4th anniversary of Superstorm Sandy Thursday, October 29, 2012 which had a significant impact on our region affecting everyone in some way and taking the lives of 61 New Yorkers one being in North Salem NY.

Sandy was one of the worse natural disasters to strike the New York area in decades impacting residences, businesses and infrastructure. Here in Lewisboro it was difficult but as compared to our fellow New Yorkers in New York City, Long Island and elsewhere we were so much better off.

A huge thanks goes out to all those who assisted with the effects of Sandy – First Responders from the Vista, South Salem, and Golden’s Bridge Fire Departments as well as from the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps; all those who volunteered to help, whether or not we had to call on you; Town of Lewisboro employees; New York State, New York City and Westchester County Offices of Emergency Management; utility crews; our neighboring municipalities including our neighbors in CT and the National Guard – your dedication, determination and motivation should be an inspiration to everyone – your commitment and the long days you all put in, some taking absences from their full-time jobs to help in these efforts – You are all the ones who made things happen.
