There's Already Been a Power Outage, It's Time to Think about Snow Days and Delays

Bedford Central Schools Superintendent reminds families of what can happen and how to keep informed.

“It is time to think about snow. (We have already experienced a power outage),” said Bedford schools Superintendent Jere Hochman in the latest email newsletter from the district.

Let this week’s windstorm and this reminder spur you to update your family emergency and contingency plan.

    • Generally, options include a regular school day, a two-hour delay, a no-school day, or early dismissal.
    • There are inclement weather days when we may hold school but cancel afternoon and evening activities and events.
    • We rarely make a “call” the night before because the weather pattern can change overnight
    • Power outages, water main breaks, or other emergencies can occur on the brightest sunniest day any month of the school year, so please have your contingency plans in place year-round.
    • If your contact information (and/or your emergency contact information) changes during the school year, please notify your child’s school office
