Town of Lewisboro Veteran's Day Ceremonies

TOWN OF LEWISBORO VETERAN’S DAY 2016

Thursday, November 10, 2016 – 241st Anniversary of the US Marine Corps

2:15 pm: The John Jay for Veterans Club will be hosting a flag placement ceremony at the High School on the front lawn. All Veterans, Spouses, Family members, care givers, etc. are invited.

8:00 am: Volunteers assemble at the South Salem Firehouse to put together the “goodie bags” the Girls Scouts, Daisies, Brownies and helpers have been distributing to the Towns Veterans. Please coordinate with Doreen Nastasio if you wish to assist.

8:30 am: The South Salem Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast for Veterans. Location is the upper room at the Firehouse at 1190 Route 35, South Salem (near Route 124). There is no cost. Veterans, spouses, caregivers, family are encouraged to attend. There is plenty of parking and the firehouse is handicapped accessible. It was great last year- the food was super and the company wonderful. You can just show up, but it would be great if you could let Julia Hadlock know if you are coming: thehadlocks@gmail.com

9:15 am: Scouts begin placing flags at Townhouse lawn – 11 Main Street, South Salem NY

10:15 am: At the Front Lawn of the Town House 11 Main Street, South Salem. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts along with the Cubs and Brownies will continue placing 311 flags to represent and honor all of the Veterans in Town. The flag placement will be done by the Scouts and volunteers. The John Jay for Veterans Club will assist. There will be a brief ceremony including posting of colors by a color guard and retirement of the colors with Taps

11:11 am: Moment of Silence.

All are invited. There will be seating for any Veterans who require it. There is ample parking available and the site is handicapped accessible, rest rooms are also available. INFO: fkelly@lewisborogov.com
