Westchester Man Arrested In Fatal Shopping Center Hit-And-Run: NYSP

LEWISBORO, NY — New York State Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run at a busy Westchester County shopping center.

On Thursday, the New York State Police began investigating a hit-and-run car crash involving a pedestrian in the Orchard Square Shopping Center parking lot on North Salem Road in Cross River, that happened shortly before 9 p.m.

The victim, Randi J. Blattberg, 65, of Mount Vernon, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and then later transported to Westchester Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators were soon able to identify the driver who struck the victim and then fled the scene. State police said Jeffrey S. Dickens, 62, of South Salem, was later arrested for felony leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.

Dickens was arraigned before the Town of Lewisboro Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond or $200,000 partially secure bond. He is scheduled to reappear before the court on December 12.

"Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Randi Blattberg," Town of Lewisboro Supervisor Tony Gonçalves said in a statement. "Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers and may Ms. Blattberg rest in peace."

The supervisor also thanked the work of the Lewisboro Police Department, including Chief David Alfano, who assisted state police in the investigation leading to the arrest.
