Westchester Oratorio Society holding "Open Rehearsals" for Bach's "St. John Passion" in May

Choral group holds open rehearsals in Katonah for singers in all voices SATB for JS Bach St. John Passion in South Salem May 7, 2017

Westchester Oratorio Society begins preparations in January for the spring portion of the group’s 2016-2017 season which features a May 7, 2017 performance of Bach’s “St. John Passion” at South Salem Presbyterian Church. Rehearsals, which begin January 3, 2017, are on Tuesday evenings in the Garden Room at the Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Road, from 7:00 PM to 9:15 PM, a short walk from the Metro North station.

Founded in 1997, and in its tenth season under the baton of Artistic Director, Benjamin Niemczyk, Westchester Oratorio Society is known for its performances of early music, traditional choral masterworks and contemporary pieces before local audiences with professional soloists and orchestras, and collaborations with such premier groups and artists as Tiffany Consort and REBEL Baroque Ensemble, as well as its appearances in the New York metropolitan area including at Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Competent singers in all voice parts with an ability to read music are welcome.
