Westchester Schedules Measles Vaccination Clinics
The county announced Wednesday that eight children had confirmed cases of measles.
BEDFORD, NY — After Wednesday's announcement that there were eight confirmed cases of measles in Westchester County — in the Bedford-Mount Kisco area — the county announced free measles vaccine clinics.
The special measles, mumps and rubella vaccine clinics will be held as follows:
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 12, Westchester Count Dept. of Health, 134 Court St., White Plains
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, Westchester Count Dept. of Health, 134 Court St., White Plains
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, Westchester Count Dept. of Health, 25 Moore Ave., Mount Kisco

Health Commissioner Sherlita Amler, MD, advised parents to consult with their healthcare provider about moving up plans to give their young children the MMR vaccine.
The eight measles cases in Westchester involved six siblings and two other children. Two of the eight had to be hospitalized but have since been released.

None of the children attends public schools or daycare programs.
Amler said that anyone who thinks they have the measles should call their doctor and report the symptoms. However they should not go to a healthcare facility unannounced in order to avoid spreading measles to others.
Orange County released information Wednesday that a person with a confirmed case of measles had visited Woodbury Common Premium Outlets Sunday, March 31. Potential exposure to the virus may have happened to people who were in the Nike Factory or Sayki Men's Fashion stores between the hours of 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., health officials said.
There have been more than 170 cases of measles in Rockland County which declared a state of emergency in March, banning anyone under the age of 18 from public spaces. A judge issued a temporary restraining order, but the county issued new orders that would require anyone exposed to measles to stay home or face a significant fine.
New York City declared an emergency, ordering mandatory vaccinations in neighborhoods affected by the outbreak.
