Yonkers Man Faces 14 Charges After Drug-Impaired Crash
Police said he had a child in the car at the time of the crash.

NORTH SALEM, NY — A Yonkers man faces 14 charges in the wake of an alleged drug-impaired crash. State police said troopers responded to I-684 in the Town of North Salem around 1:25 a.m. Nov. 4 for a report of a personal injury motor vehicle crash.
Troopers found the vehicle had completely left the highway and struck a guardrail on nearby State Route 22.
Michael G. Conti, 30, of Yonkers, was seen holding a child while running across Route 22.

He refused to comply with instructions from the troopers despite the pleading of the child.
Conti was arrested with care, police said, in order to maintain the safety of the child. However, that resulted in an injury to one of the troopers.

Police said that while he was resisting arrest, he threw drug evidence toward a nearby fence.
An investigation found that Conti was driving with a revoked license while impaired by drugs with a child in the vehicle when he crashed.
He was also found to be in possession, illegally, of about 5 grams of three separate types of prescription opioid medications, police said.
Troopers were not able to process Conti during the time of arrest because he kept fighting with the troopers. He removed a glass-framed photograph from the wall and threw it at a trooper after asking to use the restroom.
Subsequently Conti was processed Nov. 26.
He was charged with the following:
- Two counts of second-degree assault, felonies
- Second-degree attempted assault, a felony
- Aggravated DWI Leandra's law, a felony
- Aggravated DWAI drugs with a prior conviction within 10 years, a felony
- First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony
- Tampering with evidence, a felony
- Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor
- Obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor
- Fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor
- Three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
Conti was arraigned in the Town of North Salem Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
