3 Long Islanders Win $50,000 Powerball Prize

One person in California won the $1.76 billion jackpot, the lottery's second-largest payout.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — While one person in California is the winner of the Powerball $1.76 billion jackpot — the second largest in history — Long Island had its share of winners as well in the Oct. 11 drawing.

There were three third-prize winning tickets, each worth $50,000, purchased in Nassau County:

  • 7-Eleven, 2259 Jerusalem Avenue in Bellmore
  • Bar Jay Cards, 3 Northwest Drive Suite 10 in Farmingdale
  • Mineola Smoke & Card, 428 Jericho Turnpike

Eleven others from across the state won the $50,000 prize, a spokesperson for the New York State Lottery said.

The $1.76 billion winning jackpot only trails a $2.06 billion prize, also won by someone in California last November.
