On Wednesday, March 16, 2011, the Museum of Mathematics sponsored the second annual seventh and eighth-grade Math Olympiads Tournament. The tournament was hosted by St. Martin de Porres Marianist School and Kellenberg Memorial High School. About 35 teams participated in the tournament at Kellenberg Memorial High School.
Merrick Avenue’s math team did a great job representing MAMS at the recent Math Olympiad Tournament. Seth Gottlieb won first place for the individual competition and MAMS won second place for the team competition.
Ms. Aprilakis, Math Team Supervisor, stated, “It was a pleasure working with the team; they made us all proud. Most importantly, they all had a good time.”

Five Grand Avenue students also participated in the Math Tournament. The students scored very well and proudly came in fourth place out of the 35 teams that competed.
