Update: Men Dressed as Construction Workers Rob Bellmore Home at Gunpoint, Resident Hospitalized
One homeowner was reportedly pistol-whipped and hospitalized in the Friday morning robbery that prompted school lockouts.

One man was hospitalized after a violent armed home invasion in Bellmore Friday morning, according to Nassau County Police.
Police said a man and his wife were inside their Ellen Road home before 11 a.m. Friday with three construction workers when the robbery took place.

A husband and wife were inside their home with three construction workers when three unknown men entered the house, cops said.
The subjects, at least one of them armed with a black handgun, tied up the five people inside the house and robbed the home, police said.

One man was “beaten about the head” in the incident, cops said. ABC 7 reported the man had been pistol-whipped.
The three subjects fled with unknown proceeds, police said. Original reports stated they fled in a gray work van.
The injured man was brought to a nearby hospital by police and was treated for non life-threatening injuries, cops said.
The three subjects were described as black males and they were wearing construction vests, hard hats, and dust masks covering their faces, police said.
No arrests have been made yet in the robbery.
Nearby Kennedy High School and the Bellmore Elementary School District ordered lockouts at 11:15 a.m. after police reported the incident. Bellmore lifted its lockout before 12:30 p.m.
Mandalay Elementary School in Wantagh was also placed on lockout Friday, according to Newsday.
In a lockout, only police and fire personnel are admitted into the school and students are not permitted to leave.
