Beautification Project Starts on Jerusalem Avenue
New decorative lights have been installed on the south side of the street.

The Jerusalem Avenue Beautification Project has recently started, the North Bellmore Civic Association announced on Monday.
The project will enhance Jerusalem Avenue with the installation of decorative lighting, brick pavers and plantings on both sides of Jerusalem Avenue from Newbridge Road to Oakfield Avenue.
Stu Weinstein, second vice president of the North Bellmore Civic Association, said that more than 10 decorative lights were recently installed on the south side of the street.
"We have been working to improve the look of Jerusalem Avenue for seven years so I think this is great," Weinstein said. "These lights will perk up the neighborhood."
Weinstein said that project is important because Jerusalem Avenue is such a busy street.
"It generates a lot of traffic especially during rush hours," he said. "The project will help give Jerusalem Avenue the downtown feel that Bedford Avenue has."
The civic association said that it estimates that the project should be completed before the end of the summer.
