George Schroeder and Patrick Engle Score Score in the 2009 Carter, Deluca, Farrell & Schmidt Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5K Run.
With a hint of snow in the air, but fortunately several hours before it hit the ground on Dec. 19, Bellmore athletes George Schroeder and Patrick Engle created a storm of their own with their award-winning performances in the 22nd Annual Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5 Kilometer Run through the streets of Bethpage.
The 38-year-old Schroeder crossed the finish line at Bethpage's John F. Kennedy Middle School in 18 minutes, 28 seconds, placing him ninth overall out of 1,015 finishers and earning him the first place award in the Clydesdale 185-189-pound weight division. The 51-year-old Engle finished in 19:05, good for 14th place overall and second place in the 50-54 age group.
The Ho Ho Ho Run was conducted under the auspices of the Greater Long Island Running Club, with GLIRC's Ric Diveglio serving as the race director. The Melville Intellectual Property Law Firm of Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt was the title sponsor, along with Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW also providing a big financial boost.
