Bellmore Little League 12U Season Comes to an End
Williamsport team suffers a 5-4 loss to Massapequa.
Bellmore Little League 12U team played their hearts out Friday evening against Massapequa, but in the end suffered a 5-4 loss. Bellmore had control for most of the game but just couldn't hold the lead to advance their season.
"We were very close to winning this game," said Coach Paul Cooney. "We could have easily won this whole thing."
Jonathan Hulkhower pitched a solid 4 1/3 innings for Bellmore, only allowing two runs to Massapequa. Hulkhower not only helped his team on the mound but at the plate as well with a home run in the first inning, which resulted in two intentional walks to the slugger in the later innings.

Massapequa quickly answered with two runs of their own in the third inning with back-to-back singles by Ruth and Mascri.
In the fourth inning Bellmore got their bats swinging again and came up with two more runs on a double by Matthew Coco ending the inning with a score of 4-3.

After reaching his pitch count, Hulkhower was relieved by Aidan Kessler who pitched a solid fifth inning, facing two Massapequa batters who hit into a groundout and a pop up, keeping Bellmore on top.
It was last licks for Massapequa in the top of the sixth. Greg Goeller was in to pitch for Bellmore, trying to hold the lead after Kessler gave up a lead off walk. Massapequa just wasn't ready to go home, as Lorenzo hits a two run blast to center field to regain the lead 5-4.
Bellmore couldn't rally in the bottom of the sixth and suffered the loss. Although their season ended Friday night Bellmore 12U has nothing to be disappointed about. They had a great season and we all look forward to seeing them play again next year.
"Our guys have nothing to hang their heads about," added Cooney. "They were fantastic, the kids did us proud."
