Bellmore Man Named Social Worker of the Year
Bill Solz has been in private practice for 29 years.

Bellmore Resident Bill Solz was recently honored by the New York State chapter of the Nassau Association of Social Workers as social worker of the year.
Solz has been in private practice for 29 years, and he was surprised to learn he had been nominated. It turns out his two daughters, Simone and Jeneane, were the ones who did it.
“I think that they’ve been very much inspired by me and some of the work that I’ve done over the years,” Solz said. “They felt that I was deserving, and they presented a write-up to nominate me.”

Solz was a school social worker for 26 years. He also offers court approved programs in terms of DWI, anger management and domestic violence. He is currently the director of CHANGES!, which addresses the needs of male domestic violence offenders.
Simone is a social worker as well, and she does some part-time work with Solz, which is important because she is bilingual. She also was given the Woman of Distinction Award by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano for her work during Hurricane Sandy.

His younger daughter, Jeneane, is going for her doctorate in Psychology with a clinical focus.
Solz said that it’s extra special to get nominated by his daughters.
“My daughters have always been extremely close to me, and vice versa,” he said. “It just means that much more.”
