Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Getting Millions More In State Aid
The money will help keep tax increases lower in the 2017-18 school year.

Under the recently passed New York budget, school districts across the state are going to be getting more aid. The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District is no different, and will see an increase of nearly $2.5 million from the state.
The more money that comes from the state and other revenue sources, the less school districts have to raise through taxes. Bellmore-Merrick is going to see a total increase of $2,464546, or 10.41 percent over its current funding.
The increase will bring the district's total state funding to $26,136,949.

"Increased funding for Long Island schools is necessary and critical to the success of our students," said Senator John Brooks, a former school board member who now represents the district in state government. "I am pleased that we secured additional funding for our schools, but the fact remains that Nassau County residents continue to foot the bill of education on Long Island."
