Bellmore-Merrick Welcomes 25 New Teachers

The high school district welcomed the new educators with a two-day orientation.

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District recently welcomed 25 new staff members for the 2016-17 school year. The new members gathered on Aug. 29 for a special orientation to familiarize themselves with the district’s administrators, buildings and policies.

In his welcome address to the new staff, Superintendent of Schools John DeTommaso said, “By putting kids first and always, results will always follow.”

Throughout the day, the new staff members heard from a variety of district administrators on topics ranging from effective communication to leveraging the increased technological capabilities available for instruction, such as the Bring Your Own Device initiative and SMART Boards.
