Bellmore Recognizes The District's Student Leaders

The Board of Education honored the district's best and brightest at a special ceremony.

Prior to the June 12 Bellmore Board of Education meeting, students enrolled in the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Learning Center, Winthrop Avenue and Shore Road schools were recognized for achievement in school service and academics during the annual Recognition Night held in Shore Road School’s auditorium.

Board Vice President Maryanne Kelly congratulated the students on their achievements during the 2017-18 school year and thanked them for their leadership contributions to the school community. To those in attendance, she said, “These students took time out of their day to make Bellmore special.”

Fifty-six Student Advisory Council reporters from Reinhard and Shore Road and Winthrop Avenue School Student Council Advisory Council Leaders Daniel Lin (president), Casey Cerami (vice president) and Jared Cohen (secretary) were honored for school service. In addition, Jenna Blacker (first place) and Liam Marrow
(second place) from Winthrop Avenue School and Kyle Kirshenbaum (first place) and Ariana Khan (second place) were honored for their fourth-grade and sixth- grade spelling bee talents, respectively.

Board trustee Jay L.T. Breakstone also received a coveted Lifetime Achievement Award from New York State School Boards Association Director forNassau County Robert Schoen for school leadership.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph A. Famularo and the board of education also granted retirement to Reinhard librarian Theresa Ventimiglia, who has served the district for the past 20 years.

The Bellmore School District congratulates the students, Mr. Breakstone and Ms. Ventimiglia on their continuous improvement and leadership, making the district a “Community of Learners.”
