Bellmore Residents Excelling in College

Colleges and universities announced the names of Bellmore residents who are performing well on the college level.

McDaniel College

• Travis Compton of Bellmore, a senior at McDaniel College, participated in the Harvard National Model United Nations 2013 conference in Boston from Feb. 14-17. McDaniel's delegation included 19 students and represented Colombia. 

• Nicholas Cipriano, of Bellmore, is a member of the Class of 2015, and he made the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.
  
• Rachael Cayne of North Bellmore is a member of the Class of 2013 and is majoring in Criminal Justice. She was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.
• Lia DeGregorio of Bellmore, is a member of the Class of 2013 and is majoring in Psychology-Special Education. She was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.
• Claudia Lent of North Bellmore is a member of the Class of 2016 and is majoring in Criminal Justice. She was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.
• Jennifer Rizza of North Bellmore is a member of the Class of 2015 and is majoring in Mathematics - Adolescence Education. She was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.
• Lana Tenaglia of North Bellmore is a member of the Class of 2015 and is majoring in Psychology. She was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.
• Jane Tracy of North Bellmore is a member of the Class of 2013 and is majoring in English Writing - Adolescence Education. She was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester.

• The following students were named to the University at Albany's fall 2012 Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement: Ariel Frenchman of Bellmore, Andrew Hansen of North Bellmore, Ryan Heller of North Bellmore, Zachary Kitton of Bellmore, Jeremy Miller of Bellmore, Heidi Sandomir of Bellmore, Jason Seligson of North Bellmore, Rena Semertzidis of Bellmore, Daniel Sherman of North Bellmore, Evan Stein of North Bellmore, Alexander Traum of Bellmore, Cara Veneziano of Bellmore, Meredith Walker of Bellmore and Jarret Yahney of North Bellmore.

• Rider University's colleges of Business Administration; Continuing Studies; Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences; and Westminster College of the Arts have announced the names of undergraduate students who have been placed on the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester, including Leanne Gallati of Bellmore, a freshman Music Theater major and Heather Muscara of Bellmore, a senior Secondary Education major.

• The following students are graduates for December 2012 at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi: James Mills of Bellmore, an associate's degree in Construction Technology and Michael Mills of Bellmore, an associate's degree in Construction Technology.

• Justin Chaimowitz, from North Bellmore, was named to the Dean's List at Villanova University for the fall 2012 semester. Chaimowitz is pursuing a bachelor's degree in the Villanova School of Business.
  

• Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2012 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. The following local students have achieved this honor: Danielle Ippolito, a member of the class of 2013 from North Bellmore and Johanna Sullivan, a member of the class of 2015 from Bellmore.

• Kaitlyn M. Bazarewski, of North Bellmore, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2012 semester at Molloy College. Kaitlyn is majoring in Accounting/Dual Degree in Business Honors.
  

• The following local students have been awarded scholarships to attend Alvernia University this fall, Amanda Riiska, of Bellmore has been granted the Trustees' Scholarship to study History at Alvernia University. Riiska is a senior at Kellenberg Memorial High School. Courtney Wright, of Bellmore has been granted the Presidential Scholarship to study Occupational Therapy at Alvernia University.Wright is a senior at Mepham Senior High School.

• The following local residents made the Dean's List for Winter 2013 quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology: Kayleigh Grieser of Bellmore, a third-year student in RIT's College of Health Sciences and Technology, Richard Shields of North Bellmore, a fourth-year student in RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences and Andrew Ferris of Belmore, a fourth-year student in RIT's College of Science.

• The following students received academic honors from Binghamton University by making the University's Dean's list for the Fall 2012 semester: Gary M Tollin, Kimberly I Reinstein, Alexa S Abrams, Arie David Rennert, Elana Kailee King, Paola Teresa Roche, Stacie Faith Ulberg, Morgan H Rabinowitz, Sari M Kassorla, John J Condoluci, William R Cohen, Thomas John Waldron, Pawan S Marfatia, Julia B Tollin, Alec B Schnur, Amanda Kate Zucker, Corinne Nicole Johnson, Michael C Greenwood, Alex Ross Zafrin, Alyssa R Martino, Skylar Evan Goldstein, Matthew Louis Jones, James Anthony Alford.

• Katie Sheehan, of Bellmore, was one of 62 SUNY Oneonta student-athletes named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for the fall 2012 season.
  

• Andrew M. Kruter of Bellmore was a member of the men's lacrosse team at Lebanon Valley College. Kruter, a graduate of John F Kennedy High School, is a senior business administration major. LVC opened its season Saturday, Feb. 23, at Randolph-Macon College. Taylor P. Kruter of Bellmore was a member of the women's lacrosse team at Lebanon Valley College. Kruter, a graduate of John F Kennedy High School, is a senior business administration major. LVC women's lacrosse opened at home on Feb. 27 and will play through May.

• The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to announce that Ariella Serur of Bellmore was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi--the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Serur is pursuing a degree in Drama/Theater Arts at Ithaca College.
