Bellmore School District To Hold Lottery For New Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten

The Bellmore School District will be holding a lottery at the end of the month to fill its brand new full-day pre-kindergarten program, which will begin in September.

The program will be the first full-day, public school pre-K program in the Bellmore area, expanding off of the half-day program the district already has. It will allow students in the half-day program to extend their day and have a full day preschool experience. This new Star Pre-K Plus Program will provide enrichment opportunities that foster inquiry, observation, experimentation and exploration.

In addition to the Star Pre-K Plus program, the district will continue to offer its free, half-day Rising Star Pre-Kindergarten program. Both programs will be housed at the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center, which caters exclusively to the district’s youngest students.

There will be a limited number of full-day placements available, which will be decided by lottery, if necessary. The fee for the Star Pre-K Plus program is $485 per month. The lottery will be held on Friday, March 31, if there is a need.

Bellmore’s pre-kindergarten classes offer developmentally appropriate academic, art, music, physical education, foreign language and character development programs. The district also offers students state-of-the-art technology and emphasizes the unique talents and leadership inherent in all children.

The Early Childhood Center’s highly experienced teaching staff hold New York State teaching certifications and advanced degrees. Educational specialists at the center include speech/language, occupational and physical therapists, special education and English as a New Language teachers and school psychologists.

Application and registration information for both the Rising Star Pre-Kindergarten and Star Pre-K Plus programs are available on the district’s website at www.bellmoreschools.org, under the parents tab or by calling the Office for Instructional Services at 516-679-2941. All completed applications for the Star Pre-K Plus program must be received by Thursday, March 30.
