Bellmore Women Win Tennis State Championship

This past weekend, a U.S. Tennis Association team of women from the Carefree Racquet Club in North Merrick, including Michele Bergman and Mara Mazza of South Bellmore, went 5-0 at the state championship in Syracuse. Their team will now head to the USTA National Championship in California, Oct. 1 to 3.

"We were so fortunate to have a team of women who really support each other," said Mara Mazza. "Tennis is one of those sports you can play and enjoy all your life. And when you win something like this, it's icing on the cake. This was such an exciting accomplishment for each of us, our team, our club and a source of pride for Long Island."
