Bellmore/North Bellmore Students Opt Out of State Tests
Approximately 50 from North Bellmore and eight from Bellmore didn't take exams, according to school officials.

Approximately 50 students from North Bellmore and another eight from Bellmore opted out of the New York State Standardized tests that began Tuesday, according to school officials.
"Bellmore students were well-prepared and worked diligently throughout the ELA assessment," Bellmore Superintedent Dr. Joseph Famularo said. "However, as educators and parents, we need to keep in mind that this is a single standardized test that must be considered along with the comprehensive analysis of each student's overall academic performance that occurs throughout the year."

North Bellmore Superintendent Arnold Goldstein told Patch that students pulled out of the tests were kept in a separate classroom where they were allowed to read during the duration of the exam.
"The most was 17 in one building," Goldstein said. "We had had just one in another building and everywhere in between."
