Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit by Car in Freeport
The car was being driven by an 88-year-old man, police say.

FREEPORT, NY - A bicyclist was killed after being hit by a car in Freeport on Saturday night, according to Nassau County Police.
While traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway in his 2013 Lincoln MKZ, just east of Benson Place, the 88-year-old male driver was involved in a collision with a bicyclist that was crossing Sunrise Highway from the north side to the south side at about 8:12 p.m., police said.
The unidentified male bicyclist sustained multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased by a staff physician, according to police.

A brake and safety check was performed at the scene and the car was released to the owner who had the car towed.
No other injuries were reported.

The accident, which was deemed not to be criminal, continues to be investigated.
