Budget Vote Recap - Bellmore School Districts

School board election results also covered.

Bellmore residents supported the school district’s budget of $31,503,146 million Tuesday night.

The 2011-12 budget, which carries a 3.89 percent tax levy increase, received 879 yes votes and 551 no votes.

This represents a 2.27 percent increase over last year's.

School Board incumbent Jay L.T. Breakstone ran unopposed and was re-elected to the school board. Breakstone received 838 votes.

North Bellmore residents also supported the school district’s budget of $48,029,117 million Tuesday night.

The 2011-12 budget, which carries a 4.46 percent tax levy increase, received 1611 yes votes and 936 no votes.

This represents a 2.18 percent increase over last year's.

School Board incumbent Nina Lanci was defeated by newcomer John Ferrara. Nina Lanci received 1061 votes, while John Ferrara received 1078 votes.

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District budget passed with 3,922 residents voting yes and 2,675 voting no to the 2011-2012 budget on Tuesday.

The budget stands at $131,355,672, a 5.8-percent tax lexy increase from the 2010-2011 budget.

Proposition two, the capital reserve budget, also passed on Tuesday with 4,203 voters choosing yes and 2,344 voters saying no.
