Cops: Man Found Stripping Stolen Car in West Hempstead Driveway

West Hempstead man found removing dashboard of a car that had been reported stolen, cops said.

A West Hempstead man was caught in his driveway removing the dashboard from a stolen car, according to Nassau County Police.

Fourth Precinct officers received a Lojack alert just before 4 p.m. Saturday about a stolen 2008 Nissan, cops said. Police located the car and found Pedro Arguinzoni, 39, of West Hempstead, in his driveway removing the dashboard from a similar car, cops said.

Officers confirmed the car was the one reported stolen and charged Arguinzoni at the scene, cops said.

Two other cars were impounded with the Nissan for further investigation. Police did not confirm whether the two other cars had also been stolen.

Arguinzoni was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, illegal possession of vehicle identification, and auto stripping. He was arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
