UPDATE: Pedestrian Seriously Hurt After Being Struck by Pickup Truck in N. Bellmore

The 64-year-old pedestrian was trying to cross Newbridge Road, police say.

A pedestrian who was trying to cross a road was struck by a pickup truck in North Bellmore Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to police, a 64-year-old (police did not release the person's gender) entered the southbound lane to cross Newbridge Road from west to east at about 12:22 p.m.

The pedestrian was struck by a Dodge pickup truck that was heading south on Newbridge Road. The victim was transported to a local area hospital in serious condition, police said.

The 52-year-old male driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene.

There is no criminality reported at this time police said. The investigation is ongoing.
