Dinkelmeyer Celebrates Read Across America Day

The school will start its Parents as Reading Partners Program on Friday.

In honor of Read Across America Day, Dinkelmeyer Elementary School will kickoff its Parents as Reading Partners Program.

The program encourages reading by having parents read with or to their children and then write down how much reading is accomplished each day.

Read Across America Day is an initiative to encourage reading by the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools. It is held on March 2 to celebrate the birthday of famous children's writer, Dr. Seuss.

This year, the National Education Association is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about a lovable creature who fights to save the environment.
