Dispose Of Prescriptions At A Take-Back This Weekend

There's no cost, and nearly all prescription medication will be accepted.

If you have unused and unwanted medications in your home, don't flush them down the toilet or just throw them away. Bring them to a drug take-back to properly dispose of them. And luckily, there's one happening this weekend.

Senator John E. Brooks is sponsoring a ‘Drug Take-Back Day’ on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Grand Avenue Middle School, located at 2301 Grand Avenue, Bellmore. The community is invited to bring unused or expired medications to the event for safe disposal to prevent the drugs from being misused or causing damage to the environment. There are no fees or residency requirements for this event.

There are a few simple rules for bringing your medications: keep all medications in the original containers, block out names for anonymity, and do not cross out medication information. Unfortunately, thermometers, IV bags, needles and Chemotherapy drugs or liquids of any type cannot be accepted at this event.
