Downed Wires Shuts Portion Of Southern State Parkway: PSEGLI
A recent lightning strike of a pole led to Wednesday's incident on the highway, the utility company said.
BELLMORE, NY — Electrical wires came down on Wednesday morning across the Southern State Parkway near Bellmore Avenue.
PSEG Long Island said crews were dispatched after the 7 a.m. incident causing all lanes to close during a portion of the morning rush.
One witness said a brush fire was caused by the wires at the Bellmore Avenue overpass.

Lanes were reopened by 8:45 a.m. on the Southern State Parkway after a lightning strike downed the wires.
