State Sen. Charles Fuschillo’s “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program collects old or unwanted cell phones to benefit American troops serving overseas. Residents can donate any hand-held cell phone to the program, even if it no longer works. All phones collected through the program will be sent to ReCellular, a cell phone recycling company, which will pay a donation to the “Cell Phone for Soldiers” program for each donated phone. The proceeds raised will be used to purchase calling cards for overseas soldiers to call their love ones back home.
Residents who would like to donate their old cell phones can just drive up, drop them off, and drive away.
This program is being sponsored at the same time and location as Senator Fuschillo's "Shed the Meds" Program, which allows residents to safely dispose of their expired or unwanted medications.
All medications collected through the program will be taken by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for safe disposal.
