MBCCA Season Concerts

The first concert of  Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association's (MBCCA.org) 2010-11 Season began in September. All concerts are held at Calhoun High School in North Merrick.

Next, on November 13, 2010, Saturday, at 8 PM, MBCCA presents legendary clarinetist Stanley Drucker, who was a member of the New York Philharmonic for 60 years, 48 of them as principal clarinet. He has played some 10,200 concerts - including 191 solo appearances - under 10 music directors and countless guests. 

Then, on February 13, 2011, Sunday, at 4 PM, enjoy The Capitol Quartet jazz ensemble, which is widely considered amongst the most exciting chamber ensembles performing today. Comprised of saxophonists who are teaching faculty at America's leading music schools and alumni of the Premiere U.S. Military bands, the Capitol Quartet has captured the imaginations of critics and audiences alike throughout the United States and abroad.

The season finale, on April 30, 2011, Saturday, at 8 PM, is the String Orchestra of New York City. Now entering its ninth season, SONYC has established itself as one of the leading young ensembles in New York City. Its group of dedicated chamber musicians and soloists are members of outstanding chamber groups as well as winners of international competitions.

MBCCA is also presenting a special, separate Doo Wop concert on April 2, 2011, at 8 PM, at the Brookside School in North Merrick. Enjoy Cornell Gunter's Coasters, Danny and the Juniors, and Larry Chance and The Earls! Tickets for this special event are $35 each. This Doo Wop concert is NOTpart of the subscription membership series of four concerts.
