This PG-13-rated feature film centers around 16-year-old Jenny Mellor who lives with her parents in a London suburb in the early 1960s. Smart and pretty, she works toward her goal of being accepted into Oxford when her life takes a sudden turn when she meets David, a man twice her age, causing her to questionwhether she should pursue an education at Oxford, or choose to learn all that a charismatic older man can teach her.
In the Academy Awards, 2009, this film was nominated for Best Picture, and featured actress Carey Mulligan was nominated for Best Actress. The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Alfred Molina, Rosamund Pike, Dominic Cooper, Olivia Williams, and Emma Thompson.
