Extra Inning Hit Seals the Win for Mepham Softball
Kristan Taylor ends up finishing the game four-for-four, while Shannon McLean and Victoria Gunnels nab back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh.
The Mepham (6-9) Softball team in their last home game of the year was in the fight of their lives against Massapequa (4-10) yesterday afternoon and defeated the Chiefs 5-4 in extra innings.
This game had it all - good pitching, solid defense and a tremendous last inning comeback. The first six innings the Chiefs had the lead throughout. It wasn't until the bottom of the seventh where things turned around for the Lady Pirates to tie the game at 4.
In the bottom of the eighth, Mepham was ready to end it with a few swings of the bat. After a lead off hit by Kristan Taylor and a sac bunt throw away by the pitcher, it was first and third and Massapequa then walked the bases loaded on defensive indifference.
