Firefighters Parade Invades Bellmore
Firefighters from all over took to the local streets last weekend.
Last weekend, the Bellmore Fire Department was the host of the 2013 Nassau County Firefighters Parade and Drills.
The weekend's activities kicked off at the Four Towns Firemen's Training Center in Merrick on Friday at 6 p.m. with the Nassau County & Long Island Old Fashioned Racing Tournament Championship, followed by the Motorized Championship for Nassau County on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
On Saturday at 6 p.m. in Bellmore, firefighters from an estimated 50 fire departments from throughout Nassau County competed in the Championship Parade.
The parade started on at Beltagh Avenue and Henry Street, continued down Bellmore Avenue to Broadway and then ended in front of fire department headquarters on Petit Avenue.
There also was a carnival and block party being held in the LIRR lot.
