Fiscal Accounting, School Donations Covered at CHSD Board of Ed Meeting

Funding of various district programs also touched upon.

A small crowd gathered for Wednesday night's Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board of Education meeting, which, in addition to regular business, also touched on fiscal accounting.

Among other things, the meeting, which was only eight minutes long, quickly made mention of various policies and topics including donations and TEMPO (a Merrick-based substance abuse service) agreements.

It was approved that the board of education receive soccer goals and a baseball field distance signage donation with a total value of $3,642 from the Calhoun Sports Boosters at Calhoun High School and $3,000 from the Bellmore-Merrick United Secondary Teachers (BMUST) to offset the cost of the Employee Assistance Program.

The board of education also authorized its president, Dr. Matthew Kuschner, to sign an agreement with TEMPO to provide consultants and workers to assist in the implementation of driving while intoxicated program services for $33,180, after-school programs at Grand Avenue and Merrick Avenue Middle Schools for $33,935 (a 1.25% increase), and the "Human Connection" and "Life Skills" programs for $38,293 (also a 1.25% increase). Members of the board plan on evaluating this further. 

The next regular meeting of the CHSD Board of Education will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
