Sen. John Brooks is sponsoring a free screening for residents in September. Find out the details here.

From Bellmore Library: Senator John E. Brooks is sponsoring a free Prostate Cancer Screening at the Bellmore Memorial Library on Thursday, September 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

What: Prostate Cancer Screening sponsored by Senator John E. Brooks in partnership with Integrated Medical Foundation.

  • When: Thursday, September 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
  • Where: Bellmore Memorial Library, 2288 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore, NY 11710
  • Who: Senator John Brooks and Integrated Medical Foundation.

Why: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men (with the exception of skin cancer). It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among men. If prostate cancer is found as a result of screening, it will likely be at an earlier, more treatable stage than if no screening were done.

  • Screenings will involve a free PSA blood test.
  • Men participating in the program must bring photo ID containing an address (such as driver’s license).
  • Patients must bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope and health care provider’s name and address to be notified of the PSA blood test results.
  • Appointments are necessary; space is limited.
