Man Arrested After Robbing Woman in Bellmore: Police

The woman was sitting in her car when a 31-year-old man demanded money, police say.

BELLMORE, NY - A Hempstead man was arrested for robbing a woman in Bellmore on Friday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

Gregory Day, 31, approached a 35-year-old woman while she was sitting in her car on Bellmore Avenue and Sunrise Avenue, and demanded money shortly before 11 a.m., police said.

Day reached into the woman’s car, grabbed her wallet and fled the scene in his car, according to police. Day “is known to the victim,” police said.

No injuries were reported.

Bureau of Special Operations police officers found Day several hours later in Copiague, where he was placed under arrest, police said.

He is being charged with third degree robbery and will be arraigned on Saturday.
