Home Runs are Wild in Mepham’s 8-4 Win Against East Meadow
J.C. Brandmaier finished the game 3-3 with a home run in Mepham's 8-4 victory.
After a half hour rain delay due to thunderstorms, the Mepham Pirates (7-6) came out to the field with their bats swinging, defeating the East Meadow Jets (4-8) 8-4 in Conference AA-1.
Mepham launched their offense right away in the bottom of the first inning with a three run home run by first baseman Doug Marshall.
"Doug started off the season hot and then cooled down a bit," said Coach Bill Murphy. "The past two games he's had two home runs and is hitting hard. We're glad he's back."

Also contributing to their five run first was Billy Ruvolo and Greg Licausi each with one run doubles.
Mepham's pitcher Tom Pisano gave them a solid five innings, allowing four runs but never giving up the lead to East Meadow.

"Tom pitched well today," added Murphy. "He didn't have his best stuff, but he has a lot of heart and he really gutted through."
In the bottom of the fifth, East Meadow relinquished control of the game to Mepham's powerful offense.
J.C. Brandmaier, who finished the game 3-3, led off the inning with a solo shot to right center field igniting three run inning. After a base hit, Steve Luczaj scorched a two-run homer to right field making the score 8-4.
"We were successful because we hit at the right time and we had a lot of power," Murphy explained.
That was all Mepham would need to come out with the win. In the top of the sixth Matt Dato came in to pitch the final two innings and was lights out on the mound.
Dato allowed no hits in two innings pitched forcing East Meadow to hit into two one-out double plays to end the sixth and seventh innings.
The Pirates well-rounded athleticism in this game resulted in an 8-4 victory over the Jets. Mepham Baseball's next home game is Monday, May 10 at 4:15 p.m. against Massapequa (5-8).
