Joseph a. Halsey to Host Free Acting Workshop at LIIFE Festival on Sunday, JULY12 AT 2:30PM-3:30PM

Joseph A. Halsey (Cosby Show, Law & Order SUV, Guiding Light, One Life to Live) is offering Free tips on how to become a working actor on Sunday July, 12 at 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at the historic Bellmore Movies on Long Island. The workshop titled, “So You Want to Be an Actor” provides insight on how to become a working actor and helpful ways to prepare for various roles, especially challenging ones. The FREE event will happen as part of the Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) on July 8 – 16.

“I’m ecstatic to have been asked back for a second year to moderate this workshop,” said Joseph A. Halsey. “Last year was extremely fun and I was honored to be able to share my experiences with those interested in becoming an actor.”

Halsey, who is from New Jersey, took his first trip out to Long Island when he hit the festival circuit starring in the feature film The Maltese Murder Mystery in 2008. Since then, Halsey has become a staple in the Long Island film community.

“Indie films often provide actors with the chance to best work their artistic muscle,” said Halsey. “I am thrilled to be part of LIIFE and humbled that the films I acted in have been selected to be part of the festival.”

The two films Halsey performed in are Leaving, directed by Debra Markowitz, being shown on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 6:45 p.m. and the world premiere of Junkie Heaven directed by Steve Sage being shown on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 9:30 p.m. In addition, the trailer to the upcoming short film Stand Up Guy directed by Lee Kolinsky will be shown during the same block as Junkie Heaven.

Besides acting, Halsey is also a co-owner Eclecticism Publishing where he writes, records, and produces music. Their music video Look Around from the film Leaving was also selected to be part of the festival showing Saturday July 11, 2015 at 7:00pm.

Joseph just finished filming the thriller By Blood written and directed by Debra Markowitz and Remember Me? directed by Cecily Mihok-Trenka. He will also be filming BIRR written and directed by Joey MHz and produced by Nikki Blonsky famed for her role in the film Hairspray.
