Man Charged in North Bellmore Gas Station Robbery

An Inwood man faces charges after holding up a North Bellmore gas station and injuring an employee in a scuffle, reported Nassau County Police.

Cops said Gregory Scott, 59, of Inwood, went to the office of Extra Fuel Gas Station on Jerusalem Avenue and took cash from behind the counter. A 53-year-old employee confronted Scott and the two men began to fight, cops said. Another employee, a 77-year-old man, heard the disturbance and helped his coworker restrain Scott until police arrived, detectives reported.

The incident took place at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday.

The 77-year-old sustained a laceration to the hand but refused medical treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Scott was arrested at the scene and charged with second- and third-degree robbery. He will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
