Students from Ms. Lyons and Ms. Balarezo's class from PS33 in Manhattan took the train Tuesday to take a historical tour of Bellmore.
They were shown around by Bill Wilges, the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores. They looked at the firehouse and movie theatre on Pettit Avenue before taking a stroll down Bedford Avenue.
"We’re doing a unit of study on urban, suburban and rural communities," Lyons said. "Most of these kids have never been out to the suburbs."
This isn't the first time that representatives from these schools took the trip, as Lyons brought kids to Bellmore five years ago.
"It’s perfect, because we can get right off the train and they can see everything," she said. "It’s great for the kids."
