March 15: Baby Delivered on Route 135, North Shore Farms, Shoplifter

  1. Nassau County police officers assisted in the delivery of a baby girl on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (Route 135) Thursday morning. Click this link for the full story.
  2. The fate of the proposed Bellmore location of North Shore Farms is now in the hands of lawmakers. The Board of Zoning Appeals reserved decision Wednesday, and they will inform all parties involved via mail when a decision is made. Click here for more.
  3. A man allegedly stole a bottle of vodka from Merrick Wines & Spirits Thursday morning. The man, described to be somewhere in his forties or fifties, entered via the back door and went straight for the vodka section. Click here for more, including a photo of the suspect.
  4. Lorraine Poppe the principal of Kennedy High School was recently honored at an award ceremony by Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray for her outstanding contribution to the community. For more on her story, click here.
  5. Those waiting for a new business to move to the property that once hosted the East Bay Diner are going to have to wait longer. According to Susie Trenkle-Pokalsky, a spokeswoman for the Town of Hempstead, a demo permit was taken out in October, and then in December, they were told they needed to fill the hole.
