Mepham Girls Lacrosse Opens Season With 16-4 Win Over West Hempstead

The Mepham Girls Varsity Lacrosse team opened up conference play yesterday with a 16-4 win over West Hempstead.
Senior Lauren Johnson led the scoring with five goals and one assist. Junior Cristina Olson added three goals and two assists. Junior Erin McCarthy scored two goals and Alex Giorgos added another.
Freshmen Nicole Stackpole, Ashley Appel and Jess Gelbwaks totaled five goals and three assists among them. Kathryn DeLauter was outstanding in goal with eight saves.

The defense was led by seniors Katie Paolillo and Theresa White, sophmore Erin Neuwirth and freshman Michelle Olson. The team travels to Great Neck South on Thursday and their next home game is Monday at 10 a.m. against Valley Stream Central.
