Two Mepham High School students recently participated in the Long Island Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Italian’s 29th Annual Secondary School Poetry Contest at SUNY Old Westbury.
Eric Seltzer and Nicole Benevato earned third place in their respective divisions for their excellent interpretations and Italian pronunciation.
Seltzer recited “Se questo è un uomo” (“If this is a Man”) and Benevato recited “La madre” (“The Mother”).
Seventh and eighth grade students from a variety of Long Island school districts competed in the poetry contest.
