NBNM 10U LADY REBELS: SECTION 4 WEST CHAMPS!

The NBNM 10U Lady Rebels continued their winning ways this week by cruising through the Section 4 playoffs and securing a berth in the New York State Little League Championship. After winning their District 31 crown last week, the Lady Rebels continued on in the historic Williamsport tournament to face the other Nassau County District winners. The Lady Rebels were undefeated in their three playoff games to capture the Section 4  West title.

The Lady Rebels faced the tough Franklin Square team, who were the winners of District 29, in their first game. Defense was the highlight of the game, as the Lady Rebels held Franklin Square scoreless en route to their 5-0 victory. The Ladies also showed great patience at the plate, which coupled with some timely hits and great base running, was enough to overcome Franklin Square’s excellent pitching and secure the important game one victory.

The Lady Rebels came ready to pound the ball in their second game against District 30 winners, Oceanside. The Ladies crushed 20 hits and scored 24 runs in the trouncing before the mercy rule kicked in after four innings. The final score was 24-2 for the game two victory.

The Lady Rebels faced Franklin Square again in the championship game on Saturday, July 25. After losing the coin toss for the home team advantage, the Ladies came out swinging to score three quick runs against the Franklin Square team. Those runs were all the Ladies would need as they quickly dispatched Franklin Square with a 6-0 win. The Lady Rebels, with their excellent pitching and defense, held Franklin Square to only one hit for the shutout victory.

The 10U Lady Rebels will now represent the North Bellmore-North Merrick Little League in the New York State Softball championship beginning on July 29, 2015, where they will face the other Section winners from all over the state. The games will be held in West Babylon over a four day period.

The 10U Lady Rebels are a great group of young ladies, who were elected from among all of the players in the NBNM Little League to represent the league in the Williamsport tournament based upon their excellent play and sportsmanship throughout the 2015 Little League season. The 2015 10U Lady Rebels are: Lily Yepez, Paige Antener, Alanna Morse, Hailey Guerrero, Kerri Hatcliffe, Janaye Loforte, Alexa Nilsen, Konstantina Sigalas, Kayla Weber, Danielle Biscardi, Casey Cascio and Samantha Klein. Lady Rebels on three! Ready one, two, three: Lady Rebels!
